It’s this time of year again, so I want to kindly remind all Fallers that:
– You can draw/write about the Pines family celebrating Christmas, Hannukah, or whatever holiday you want them to celebrate, and no one has the right to condemn or attack you for this.
– The above was stated by Alex Hirsch himself several times: [proof 1] [proof 2]
– Dipper and Mabel were based on Alex and his twin sister, who are half-Jewish and grew up celebrating both Christmas and Hannukah non-religiously; and, according to Alex, the Pines also celebrate all holidays at Mabel’s insistence: [proof 1] [proof 2]
My point is: representation is a great thing and I understand how important it is to people, but that doesn’t mean you should police other people’s headcanons and condemn them for having a different vision of characters – especially when canon is ambiguos enough to not draw firm conclusions about someone’s religious identity. Please remember that these characters belong to everyone and there shouldn’t be any restrictions on how to portray them.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll have fun this holiday season! ❤
reblogging again because I wanted to share these great tags:
Doodled a shiny boy the other day and decided to absolutely torture myself and destroy my hand by giving it some detailed shading. The basic sketch took like 5 minutes. The shading took like 5 days.
Been working on a bunch of stuff all at once, hopefully I’ll start finishing them all now and I’ll be posting more original art soon.
