About me sorta thingy

I was tagged by @pinkybunnie, who is a sweetheart and friend. It took longer to respond than I hoped. Wife and I were helping my mother-in-law and sister-in-law move yesterday and it killed me physically.

5 things you’ll find in my bag:
(Well, I don’t always carry a bag, but this is what I tend to carry anyway.)

-A folding knife. Just as a tool. You never know when you might have to break doen boxes.
-a couple spare hair ties wrapped around my wallet. I only like the ones that are a seamleas loop of nylon, but not fresh and un-stretched. So i always keep at least 1 spare on the wallet to stretch it out so i can do 3 loops.
-a set of over the ear headphones so I can listen to My Brother, My Brother, and Me, and The Adventure Zone wherever I am.
-some hand lotion and hand sanitizer. In the center console of my car. Along with a big handful of napkins. Cuz when you touch something nasty or need to moisturize.
-a voice recorder. I have hundreds of hours of story ideas and random thoughts recorded. You never know when inspiration could strike.

5 things you’ll find in my bedroom:

-An electric hot wax burner. Cuz it’s always nice to have a good smell around. And after you get used to it, it’ll still smell good for anyone who comes in.
-2 home made bookshelves. 1 full size bookshelf on one side of my closet, and a mini shelf on the other. The mini one holds most of our Pathfinder rpg books.
-Wife’s haoris and yukatas displayed on the walls along with the Obi sashes I made for them. They’re like 12 feet long I think, so it took a room and a halway just to see them.
-A collection of old gaming systems that aren’t plugged into anything anymore. One day though…
-A mountain of laundry that i need to scale.

5 things I’m currently into:

-McElroy stuff! The Adventure Zone, MBMBaM, the Seeso show, etc. Those boys are precious.
-Voltron! Pinky got me so curious that I couldn’t not watch it. I’m definitely addicted now.
-Wishing I had Breath of the Wild. Oh man, I spend a lot of time daydreaming about it.
-Star vs the Forces of Evil. I need to catch up with it though. And I’ve got some princess marco to look forward to.
-Steven Universe. Live the show, but I avoid thr fandom. You know why.

5 things on my to-do-list:

-Actually write some fanfiction. Finding the motivation to do that has been a huge challenge.
-Cut wine bottles into drinking cups. I’ve been meaning to do it for a while. I’ve got a bunch of wine bottles in my garage courtesy of my mother and step father.
-finishing some cosplay projects, like wife’s sci fi gun for her Ford cosplay.
-Do some woodworking. I could have lumped that in with the cosplay stuff, but I’ve really been meaning to get back to using my hands for stuff. That includes making furniture and wooden swords.
-Our gotdamn taxes.

5 things people may not know about me:

-I started growing my hair out in middle school because of Duo Maxwell from Gundam Wing.
-I garden and try to cook with what I grow. I don’t have a whole lot of energy for gardening, but I do it when I can. Eating home grown salads and cooking with herbs you’ve grown is a good feeling. I want to do more.
-I’m named after someone my wife is descended from.
-I’m a maker, and I strive to be a jack of all trades. And master to whatever extent I’m able. Making stuff is the best thing anyone can do. Writing, cooking, carpentry, cosplay, baking and candy making, book binding, sewing. These are a few of my favorite things.
-I’ve got hella social anxiety. Running this blog forces me to be more social. And that’s a new perspective for me. And i definitely appreciate it.

Tagging: @mrdaxxonford, @equilateral-asshat, and whoever else wants to do it. Once I’m actually able to get on my computer I’ll try to format this so it’s not so ugly to look at.

a little respect goes a long way

we’re not machines that dispense art in return for kindness, maybe try to keep that in mind about how we might feel instead of feeling bad because you’re not entitled to free art.

looks like my 3 year old comic is making rounds again so reiterate

There are some damn fine artists in this fandom that are well worth the money for a commission. @in-your-face-elizabeth, @pinkpines, @gotherbunz, @glaslove, and more.

For those who don’t know what Samurai Jack is and why we should be stoked that it’s coming back:

lightlybow:

There’s a loner with a man-bun

Who was pulled out of his timeline

And sees modern things through the lens of 17th century Japanese prince.

There are awesome fight scenes

And dramatic narrative moments

And best of all, the show fluctuates between being awesome and freaking ridiculous at the drop of a hat, often in the same narrative breath.

It’s a really good show to watch if you want to learn about the use of color and shapes in storytelling, as well as exaggerated perspective, use of negative space, timing, and narrative arcs. I recommend it to all comic artists, storyboarders, illustrators, cinematographers, writers… heck, ANYONE. GET HYPE.
