In celebration of Father’s Day today, I thought I’d commission a couple of scenes from Happy Uncle’s Day, my fic where Mabel’s daughter Cassie discovers that there’s more to her Uncle Dipper than she thought.

The first illustration of Cassie spying on the twins through the open doorway is by @pinestimes2, while @miundy-foxy created the image of Cassie receiving a kiss on her birthmark from her father. I’m really pleased with how both of these turned out. Both artists are amazing talents, and it was a pleasure working with them on these commissions.

@ghost-church Yeah. That’s the thing. It’s not hard to come up with a story. It’s really just one main idea with a couple side branches maybe. But that’s like going from point A to Z. The actual narration, dialogue and phraseology are the B, C, etc. And that can be hard to focus on.

Weirdly enough, I think I did actually end up brainstorming up an idea for a decent-ish Mabifica fic.

Now to get around to the real hassle – trying to write it somehow.

Yeah, that’s the hard part. *literally has dozens of hours of notes for fics*

I don’t think I could ever call myself “a writer” with a straight face, but if I did I think I’d probably say that doing the actual writing is the worst/best part of writing.

Because when you really feel it and you’re just hammering away at the keyboard with your favorite playlist in your ears and the scene playing in your head appearing letter by letter on the screen in front of you its a RUSH.

But then there’s the hours you spend just kind of idly killing time and glancing back at the cursor blinking accusations at you from the blank text file and it is a damn nightmare.

I dig that. Some days it’s just “wait, how the hell do people talk? Do I talk like that? Are all of these characters the same person, or do they have different voices?” And other times it flows so well it could be a drabble every ten minutes.
